This is precisely one of the reasons why I appreciate this film because its not a very easy thing to do and Asit Sen pulls it off quite commendably. I for one, don't be nice that a single character should be the focus throughout out the film. That said, I agree the film gets melodramatic later on, but overall its a good well directed film. Of course the original Bengali film 'Chalachal' made by Asit Sen himself,of which Safar is a remake, as it is more restrained and much less melodramatic. But that's a problem that most of the directors have faced when trans- creating their regional films into Hindi, and trying to fit them into the more conventional filmi masala melodrama mode of commercial Hindi cinema.MADmusic&movieloverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00315428645417816798noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5375273113538165146.post-50332128928174889742012-02-27T09:42:48.414-08:002012-02-27T09:42:48.414-08:00:) Definitely a film that will always be recalled ...:) Definitely a film that will always be recalled fondly because of its songs.Piyush Dewanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05887677851148935267noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5375273113538165146.post-39751604275175237462012-02-27T09:40:55.792-08:002012-02-27T09:40:55.792-08:00You have summed it up really well :) The problem w...You have summed it up really well :) The problem with the film in my view is that it tries to assume a higher purpose with sacrifice and all in the climax... but it's nothing more than a 'pleasant'film with great songs- as you put it. That was the main reason I don't especially like it. But the songs are wonderful. For me, the best song is a toss-up between Jeevan se bhari teri aankhen and Hum thhe jinke sahaare.dustedoffhttp://www.dustedoff.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5375273113538165146.post-3965019462837151082012-02-26T18:18:39.099-08:002012-02-26T18:18:39.099-08:00I remember this from the good old DD days. Neither Khanna nor Khan being my favourites, it didn't even have the appeal of Kal Ho Na Ho, which, by the way, I didn't like much either. My favourite song in this is Jeevan se bhari teri aankhein...Anu Warrierhttp://anuradhawarrier.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.com
